Hospice Compassus "Triple Crown" Awards

$0.01

Hospice Compassus, a nationwide network of community-based hospices, commissioned a new set of custom awards from Bennett Awards. These sculpture trophies were created for a new set of recognition awards that Hospice Compassus recently established. These awards are called the “Triple Crown Awards”, and recognize the programs, physicians and staff that best demonstrate the company’s commitment to delivering quality patient outcomes, increasing access to hospice services, and to physician leadership.

There are three unique variations of the Triple Crown Awards:

  1. The William H. First, MD Award for Outstanding Achievement in Quality Patient Outcomes.
  2. The R. Sean Morrison, MD Award for Outstanding Achievement in Hospice Physician Leadership.
  3. The David Kessler Award for Outstanding Achievement in Increasing Patient Access to Hospice.

Bennett Awards worked with Hospice Compassus to develop a new sculpture trophy design for these awards, and then created unique variations of this design for each of the three awards. The overall sculpture design was based on the Hospice Compassus logo, which is the shape of an impressionistic heart. These sculptures trophies were all cast in pewter, and then mounted on black marble bases with personalized engraving. However, to differentiate the three unique awards, a different finish was applied to each of the trophies, and a different color of engraving was used for the bases. The William H. First MD Award featured a gold plated finish and gold fill engraving. The R. Sean Morrison MD Award featured a silver plated finish and silver fill engraving. Finally, the David Kessler Award featured a blue painted finish, along with natural marble engraving.

These Triple Crown Awards were established as part of a larger initiative. In 2011, Hospice Compassus took a voluntary, proactive lead in setting new quality standards for the hospice industry by launching the “Keeping the Promise”, including a commitment to expanding access to high quality hospice care to those who need it. In December, Hospice Compassus reportedly became the first hospice provider in the U.S. to publicly reveal patient quality data. The data shows significant achievements toward establishing and continuing to raise industry benchmarks after a year of reporting quality data at more than 50 community-based programs nationwide. Hospice Compassus will continue to carry out its national quality initiative until 100 percent compliance is achieved through continuous action in each of its community-based hospice programs across the U.S., and through support and reinforcement from company management.

Opening its first hospice in 1979, Hospice Compassus is a family of community-based hospices. Their nationwide network is a vast resource benefiting both patients and their families. Hospice Compassus has a common culture around three core values: Compassion, Integrity, and Excellence. Their primary goals are to provide the highest quality hospice care and service in every community in which they operate, and to be both the hospice provider of choice and the hospice employer of choice.
