Bennett Awards Creates Custom Medallion Award for Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala

2025 Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala, designed by Bennett Awards

For the last two years, Bennett Awards has had the privilege of collaborating with the Florida Association of Broadcasters (FAB) to create and produce a custom award for the prestigious Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala. Held this year on June 26, 2025 at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, this annual event celebrates the trailblazers and innovators in the broadcasting industry. With a rich history of recognizing the best and brightest figures in Florida broadcasting, FAB reached out to Bennett Awards to design a unique and meaningful award that would reflect the prestige and legacy of the Hall of Fame inductees.

The Ask and the Engagement

FAB initially approached Bennett Awards in 2024 with a request for a custom award to be presented at the inaugural Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala. They envisioned an award that would incorporate their logo into a medallion-style design. This request marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration. Having worked with FAB on past projects, Bennett Awards was thrilled to once again create a meaningful piece to honor the achievements of the state’s broadcasting pioneers.

After some brainstorming and discussions with FAB’s team, it became clear that the traditional medallion idea could be elevated by blending it with Bennett Awards’ signature Benny Award. The Benny Award, a stylized human figure, is a versatile piece in the Bennett Awards collection, with the option to hold a star or heart. For a minimal additional cost, Bennett could incorporate a custom medallion into the design, which allowed FAB to achieve their desired aesthetic without the expense of a fully custom-designed award.

Development Process: Custom Design and Collaboration

Once the concept was established, the design and production process took center stage. The collaboration between Bennett Awards and FAB was seamless. Our project managers worked closely with FAB’s team, reviewing mock-ups and ensuring the final design would meet their high standards.

The design was to feature the medallion holding the FAB logo, set within the Benny Award figure, which measures 8 inches tall. The medallion itself, measuring 2.5 inches in diameter, was to be crafted in brushed pewter, hand-painted with a gold finish, and cast with recessed letters and designs that would be hand-painted black to make the logo pop. Achieving this balance of metallic finishes required meticulous attention to detail to ensure the awards would look stunning from every angle. However the craftsmanship was evident, adding sophistication fitting for an award at such a distinguished event.

A slight challenge arose during the creation of the medallion: ensuring that it would be securely attached to the figure while maintaining a sleek and durable design. To tackle this, the medallion was carefully welded to the figure to ensure its stability, particularly as the award would be handled by recipients during the ceremony.

The collaborative spirit between Bennett Awards and FAB’s team made the process efficient and enjoyable. The final result was a harmonious fusion of creativity and craftsmanship that both parties were proud of.

The Final Product

The final custom awards were nothing short of spectacular. Standing 11 inches tall, the figure was the perfect size for display and recognition. The medallion was securely held in the figure’s hands, making for an elegant and distinctive presentation piece. Each medallion, with its hand-painted gold and black details, gleamed under the gala lights, making the awards not just a symbol of achievement, but a work of art.

FAB’s team was overjoyed with the final product. Upon seeing the first batch of physical awards, they shared their excitement, saying, “They look amazing!” This feedback confirmed that the awards had exceeded their expectations in both design and craftsmanship.

Given the positive response and success of the inaugural 2024 event, FAB chose to reorder the same custom awards for the 2025 Hall of Fame Gala. This decision demonstrated their satisfaction with the awards and reaffirmed the value of Bennett Awards as a trusted partner.

Impact and Analytics

The Florida Broadcasters Hall of Fame Gala is an important event in the broadcasting industry, drawing influential professionals from across the state. Hall of Fame inductees are chosen based on their distinguished careers, which often span decades. These individuals have made lasting contributions to the broadcasting industry, helping to shape the landscape of radio and television in Florida.

In addition to the prestigious awards ceremony, FAB’s commitment to advancing the industry is further evidenced by the creation of the Florida Broadcasters Foundation and the Hall of Fame itself. As a key player in the broadcasting community, FAB's annual gala serves as a gathering point for industry leaders to celebrate past achievements while looking toward the future of broadcasting.

The success of the custom awards in both 2024 and 2025 underscores the importance of recognition and celebration in fostering a sense of community and legacy within the industry. With a second order placed for 2025, Bennett Awards is proud to have contributed to honoring the broadcasting legends who have helped shape Florida’s media landscape.
