Women In Music
The Story
When Billboard needed to honor the most influential women in music (from Doechii to JENNIE to Gracie Abrams) at their star-studded event at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, they faced a unique challenge: create awards that could capture both individual achievement and the eternal impact these artists make on culture itself. With Laverne Cox hosting and millions watching globally, these weren't just trophies, but they were symbols of lasting cultural influence.
The Design
Inspired by the concept that "music lives on more than any other art form," Bennett Awards created a sculpture representing the cosmic ripple effect of musical influence. The award features dynamic contours and interconnected curves that symbolize how each artist becomes part of the cultural zeitgeist, "like the ripple effect in a cosmic mesh or wireframe of the universe." The design transforms abstract musical emotions into tangible form, celebrating how these women's contributions resonate infinitely outward.
The Craftsmanship
Working from Billboard's mood board emphasizing grand shapes and emotional textures, our design team interpreted tonalities and feelings into physical form. Each curve and line was meticulously crafted to represent the ongoing energy and impact of the artists, with subtle shifts and dynamic contours that mirror music's eternal nature. The precision manufacturing ensures every detail reflects the sophistication these industry icons deserve.
The Impact
Social media exploded with millions of impressions under #BBWOMENINMUSIC as winners proudly displayed their uniquely crafted trophies, generating exponential brand exposure for Billboard across global platforms. But the real impact goes deeper: these awards serve as daily reminders to recipients of their eternal contributions to music and culture. They represent more than individual achievement. They symbolize how these artists have become integral parts of cultural history, leaving lasting imprints on the world. Every time they see their award, they're reminded of their place in music's infinite story, with each piece working as a 365-day-a-year brand ambassador in their homes and studios.
