Ballet Hispanico Presents Bennett Custom Awards

Ballet Hispanico, the leading Latino dance organization in the United States, presented two deserving recipients with unique custom awards created by Bennett Awards.

The first award, the Toda Una Vida Lifetime Achievement Award, was presented to Lourdes Lopez, the Artistic Director of Miami City Ballet. Lopez was recognized for her glass ceiling-shattering career as a Principal Dancer with the New York City Ballet, her extraordinary artistic leadership in the classical dance world, and for being a cultural ambassador for dance. The second award, the Nuestra Inspiración Award, was awarded to the groundbreaking television series Dancing with the Stars for nurturing a new generation of dance lovers, inspiring people to dance, and showcasing dance in all of its diversity.

For both of these awards, Ballet Hispanico used a unique custom award design it commissioned from Bennett Awards in 2015. This centerpiece of this sculpture design is an impressionistic ballet dancer. The design was created to match Ballet Hispanico's brand image. The sculpture stands approximately 16” high, and is cast in gold-plated pewter. The sculpture is mounted on a circular black marble base with gold-fill engraving of the recipient name, award name, and date of presentation.

These recognition awards were presented to recipients at Ballet Hispánico’s Carnaval Gala on May 6, 2019 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. This event raised $1.2 million in support of the organization’s artistic, educational, and community outreach programs in New York City, across the United States and around the world.

Ballet Hispánico, America’s leading Latino dance organization, has been bringing individuals and communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through dance for nearly 50 years. Whether dancing on stage, in school, or in the street, Ballet Hispánico creates a space where few institutions are breaking ground.
