“Our organization is responsible for the restoration, preservation and tour program of Frank Lloyd Wright’s first home, built in 1889, and studio, built in 1898—where he spent the first 20 years of his career, until 1909. This was a one-time award for our organization and we wanted it to be special. FLW designs are very detailed and intricate, so creating a 3D model was challenging. I told Mollee from the start, “We are an architecture organization and the award recipient is one of the key architects responsible for saving and reconstructing the building —it has to be perfect!” Mollee assured me from the start they could pull it off and the results are amazing. At the unveiling (yes, we pulled off a cloth) there was an audible “Ahhh” from the crowd. By the end of the evening, the recipient decided it was too beautiful to keep at his home and asked that it be displayed for other volunteers and the public to enjoy.
