2020 AWEA Wind Champions Receive Custom Bennett Awards

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) presented its 2020 recipients of the Wind Champions Awards with custom awards created by Bennett Awards. The Wind Champion Awards recognize policy and though leaders for helping wind build a sustainable, affordable, and prosperous energy future. 

The 2020 recipients of the Wind Champion Awards comprised a select group of bipartisan Senators, Representatives, and Governors who have embraced a forward-thinking approach to energy policy that has enabled wind to become the United States’ largest renewable energy source while employing over 120,000 Americans across all 50 states.

For these awards, Bennett Awards worked with AWEA to create a new, unique custom award design in the shape of a wind turbine. The recognition awards based on this design were fabricated from aluminum. The turbines had a brushed aluminum finish and were mounted to blue anondized circular bases. Logos and personalized recipient information were digitally printed on the bases. 

The 2020 Wind Champion Award recipients were:

•         Senator Bill Cassidy (R – Louisiana)

•         Senator Tina Smith (D-Minnesota)

•         Senator John Thune (R – South Dakota)

•         Senator Lisa Murkowski (R – Alaska)

•         House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D – California 12)

•         House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D – Maryland 5)

•         Congressman Don Bacon (R – Nebraska 2)

•         Congressman Paul Tonko (D – New York 20)

•         Congressman Darin LaHood (R – Illinois 18)

•         Governor Andrew Cuomo (D – New York)

•         Governor Kim Reynolds (R – Iowa)

•         Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D – New Mexico)

•         Governor Jay Inslee (D – Washington)

•         Governor Kevin Stitt (R – Oklahoma)

•         Governor Ralph Northam (D – Virginia)

These leaders received their 2020 Wind Champion Awards on August 12, 2020 as part of American Wind Week. These awards recognized their significant efforts to build a clean energy future and for their continued support for the economic and environmental benefits that wind energy brings to their districts, their states, and our country.
