World Rugby Awards Bennett Custom Awards to World Cup Sevens MVPs

World Rugby recognized its 2020 HSBC Sevens Series MVP winners with unique custom awards created by Bennett Awards. These awards, called the UL Mark of Excellence awards, recognize and celebrate the men’s and women’s top players from the 2020 season. Though the season was abbreviated by COVID-19, the performances in the shortened period were outstanding nonetheless.

The men’s recipient was Dan Norton of England, who became the first sevens player to score 350 tries on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series at the HSBC Sydney Sevens.

The women’s recipient was Tyla Nathan-Wong of New Zealand, who became the first Black Ferns Sevens player – and second overall – to reach 1,000 series points at the HSBC Sydney Sevens.

In 2018, Bennett Awards created new custom trophies for these awards. Bennett Awards, in collaboration with the award sponsors and tournament organizers, developed a new custom design for these trophies. The design featured an abstract geometric sculpture inspired by the event logo. These sculpture awards were cast in pewter with a satin finish. The sculptures were mounted on black bases with plates featuring sublimated engravings of the award name, event logo, and sponsor logo.
