The Vice President of Human Resources at CAL’s Convenience reached out to Bennett Awards in February with a request to design and produce a new custom award for outstanding employees in their designer convenience stores.
CAL’s Convenience, Inc. operates 209 convenience store locations located in West Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and New York.
The CAL’s team let us know their plan to hold their first awards retreat event for the company in the spring of 2022 at the Caverns of Sonora. Their goal was to give a non-traditional trophy award that represented the CAL’s Convenience brand to their chosen recipients comprised of outstanding General Managers, Restaurant Leads, and Field Technicians.
Custom Design Process:
Their main goal with creating a custom award was to represent their company brand in a tangible way. They requested for a custom award design to be especially fun, whimsical and a bit out-of-the-box. We determined a colorful acrylic award would be the best medium for their artistic design.
Together we also decided that the focal point of their design should be an artistic rendering of their iconic red box that contained hot food at their convenience stores. Instead of the traditional food inside, we created prairie scene imagery inside of the red box that represented the location of their company recognition event.
Award Production Process:
The final design evolved into a custom acrylic award with a thumbs up sign on top of a big red box. Acrylic allowed for a colorful effect and the ability to PMS match the Cal’s Convenience brand colors.
We surface screened the imagery on the front, based on imagery from the recognition retreat location.
The final result achieved the whimsical, fun and on-brand characteristics desired.
