A Bronze Anchor for Chevron

Chevron approached us in early March of 2022 to help them award the key contractor companies who would be aiding them with the design, construction and execution of their impressive Anchor project. According to Chevron’s press release, this project, taking place in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, marks the industry’s first deepwater high-pressure development to achieve a final investment decision. This new technology, which is capable of handling pressures of 20,000 psi, also enables access to other high-pressure resource opportunities across the Gulf of Mexico for Chevron, and the industry. It is a ground-breaking project, achieving many world firsts.

During our initial design meeting with Chevron, they shared their objectives and desired aesthetics. They hoped to achieve the following goals.

  • An impressionistic and contemporary representation of an anchor.

  • A 3D sculpture to be made of metal: bronze, pewter, or steel.

  • A natural base for the sculpture, such as marble, quartz or stone.

  • A beautiful, sleek finish to the sculpture; not distressed or antiqued.

  • Embedding “20K” into the sculpture in some way.

We were able to work together to create a stunning 14.25”h cast bronze anchor with patina that was then mounted on a round marble base. The 20K was engraved into the base of the anchor sculpture as a nod to the staggering pressures of 20,000 psi.
