Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Championship Presents Bennett Custom Awards

For the fourth straight year, the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity collegiate lacrosse organization in the country, presented custom awards created by Bennett Awards to its National Champions. The design of the award is inspired by the MCLA logo: an impressionistic shape of the curved end of a lacrosse stick. The awards are produced in a combination of both anodized steel and acrylic, with the logos of the participating teams silk-screened on the acrylic surface of the award.

Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns received a Bennett recognition award as the 2017 recipient of the Lady Bird Johnson Environmental Award. The Lady Bird Johnson Environmental Award honors outstanding achievements in the preservation, restoration or improvement of the natural world that embrace Mrs. Johnson's style, energy and commitment to her work. For this award, Burns was presented with the Bennett recognition award In Our Hands, designed by sculptor Terrie Bennett, who herself has a strong commitment to environmental causes, the influence of which can be seen in much of her work.

Bennett Creates Custom Awards for XPRIZE Competition

Bennett Awards recently created two custom recognition awards for the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE competition. The goal of this incentivized contest was to create a real-world version of the Star Trek tricorder, a mobile medical diagnostic device weighing under 5 pounds a capable of diagnosing at least 13 different health conditions. The award consisted of a trapezoid-shaped cast pewter base with sculpted engravings of the XPRIZE and Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE logos, along with information on the award and the winning team. A crystal sphere was mounted on top of the base with 3D subsurface engravings of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and binary code that referenced XPRIZE.

‘Hiring Our Heroes’ Program Presents Bennett Custom Awards

For the sixth consecutive year, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation presented custom sculpture awards created by Bennett Awards to the 2016 recipients of the 6th Annual ‘Hiring Our Heroes’ awards. The Hiring Our Heroes Awards recognize employers and individuals who have gone above and beyond to hire, retain, and honor our country’s military talent. In 2011, U.S. Chamber of Commerce commissioned Bennett Awards to create a new, unique custom award design for these recognition awards. This design is a figurative bronze sculpture in the form of a combat serviceman on patrol.

For the second consecutive year, Bennett Awards created a set of custom recognition awards for Nickelodeon’s HALO Awards. Each year, the Nickelodeon Halo Awards recognize teens that are making a positive difference in their communities and the world by “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO). For these awards, Bennett Awards created custom fabricated aluminum batons. The batons were anodized in orange (the Nickelodeon brand color). The Nickelodeon HALO AWARDS logo was engraved on the front of each baton, and the words “HELPING AND LEADING OTHERS” on the back. Finally, fabricated aluminum stands were created to hold each baton.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, recently received a unique Bennett recognition award. Trudeau received the CERAWeek Global Energy and Environment Leadership Award in recognition of his commitment to sustainability in energy and the environment. For this award, Trudeau was presented with the unique Bennett sculpture award Etcetera, designed by sculptor Tom Bennett.

Bennett Awards worked closely with Nokia Bell Labs to create a custom award design for one of the recognition awards they present each year. This award is called the Shannon Luminary Award. It is presented as part of the Shannon Luminary Lecture Series and Award, which explores and recognizes all topics of high impact and relevance to the future of human existence. The custom award Bennett Awards created for this new recognition award was designed in the form of an impressionistic sculpture figure representing Claude Shannon. The hand-sculpted figure was surrounded by a variety of sculpted objects that paid homage to Shannon’s interests and passions, including an electronic mouse, a clarinet, and a unicycle.

Bennett Awards Creates Custom Awards for the Golden State Warriors

Bennett Awards designed a set of unique wood and pewter custom awards for the Golden State Warriors. The awards were created for the Warrior’s annual charity poker tournament. Bennett Awards worked with the Warriors organization to design and produce two separate award designs for these awards: 1) a championship sculpture award for the tournament champion; and 2) smaller award plaques for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

These recognition awards are designed to honor reality programs and people that broke through the clutter in the proceeding year, as well as becoming part of the cultural conversation and generally altering the expectations of what constitutes a reality program. 2017 recipients of these awards included Blake Shelton, Steve Harvey, The Voice, and Shark Tank among others.

Bennett Awards Creates Interactive Custom Awards for Levchin Prize

Bennett Awards created a set of unique interactive custom awards for the Levchin Prize. The Levchin Prize honors significant contributions to real-world cryptology. The award design was a “puzzle” that challenged recipients and others to solve it. These aluminum awards were fabricated in the shape of a cylinder, with rotating circular disks that, properly rotated and positioned, spelled out “LEVCHIN PRIZE”. Once the disks were in the correct position, the award also revealed a secret inner chamber in the spindle of the cylinder.
